In line with its environmental commitment, the IHMP Stewardship Ministry organized a tree-planting on March 9 at the SAMCC grounds.
Species planted include: avocado, rambutan, carabao and Indian mango, duco lanzones, langka (jackfruit), balimbing (star fruit), papaya, and chili pepper.
These saplings were lovingly cultivated from seedlings by the family of Bong and Marissa Doctor (SM Couple-Coordinators), together with their “green-thumb” niece in their urban home nursery.
What began as a pandemic home project blossomed into a generous, lasting gift to the Claretian seminary community.
15 seminarians planted the saplings under the guidance of Community Superior, Fr. Efren Decrito, CMF.
Participants enriched the soil with natural compost produced within the seminary itself, and watered the trees with chlorine-free well water for natural, strong root growth.
Just days later on March 12, Claret School of Quezon City (CSQC) demonstrated its dedication to the environment by holding a tree-planting activity in the area fronting the IHMP Church.
The activity was coordinated by the IHMP Stewardship Ministry, Fr. Julius Boado, CMF (IHMP Parochial Vicar), and Ms. Ma. Corazon “Heart” Reños of the CSQC Faith Education and Enrichment Department.
Four saplings (2 avocado and 2 rambutan) provided by the IHMP SM were planted by 20 Senior High School students from the Environmental Awareness Club.
Divided into 4 groups, the students eagerly took part in digging, planting, and watering — handling garden tools such as spades, shovels, trowels, bolos, and watering cans with enthusiasm and newfound confidence.
Through these initiatives, the Stewardship Ministry with our Parish Priest, Fr. Dennis Tamayo, CMF, hope that the trees will grow into enduring symbols of faith in action, responsibility for the earth, and hope for generations to come.
