A NEW SIGN THAT LEADS US TO CHRIST: Blessing of the Immaculate Heart of Mary and Unveiling of the Dedication Marker
Before the solemn Rite of Dedication of the Church and Altar on September 7, 2026, the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish (IHMP) community gathered in gratitude and joy for the blessing of a new 10-foot-high replica of the parish’s iconic image of its patroness, the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
Most Rev. Elias L. Ayuban, Jr., CMF, DD, Bishop of Cubao, presided over the blessing of the image, which now stands beside the Parish Office and welcomes those who enter the parish grounds. With her maternal gaze and heart turned toward God, the image of Mary serves as a visible reminder of her unique role in the life of the Church: she leads us to her Son, Jesus Christ, and teaches us to receive, contemplate, and follow him with an undivided heart.
Following the blessing, Bishop Elias and Rev. Fr. Dennis G. Tamayo, CMF, Parish Priest, unveiled the Dedication Marker at the entrance of the church. The unveiling took place during the entrance procession before they proceeded to the sanctuary for the solemn Rite of Dedication of the Church and Altar.
The Dedication Marker now stands as a permanent visible witness to the church’s solemn dedication and to its identity as a sacred place of worship within the Roman Catholic Diocese of Cubao under the pastoral care of the Claretian Missionaries of the Fr. Rhoel Gallardo Province. It also recalls the parish community’s journey of faith and its continuing mission to give glory to God through the celebration of the sacred mysteries and the life of Christian discipleship.
Together, these two signs – the image of the Immaculate Heart of Mary and the Dedication Marker – are more than additions to the parish grounds. They speak of who we are as a community: a people gathered in Christ, placed under the maternal patronage of Mary, and called to become a living dwelling place of God.
As we enter our church, may Mary’s maternal presence draw our hearts beyond the visible image and ever more deeply toward her Son. May she teach us, as she did at Cana, to listen to Jesus, to trust in him, and to do whatever he tells us.
Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us and lead us always to Jesus.
