LAKBAY NI FRANCISCO: A Grace-Filled Visit to IHMP
Pax et Bonum! 🕊️ The Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, U.P. Village, Quezon City, was blessed to welcome the Jubilee Relic of St. Francis of Assisi (Cineribus Corporis) on 19–20 September 2026, as part of the Extraordinary Jubilee Year of St. Francis, commemorating the 800th anniversary of his death.
The sacred relic first arrived at the parish on 19 September and was brought to the Adoration Chapel before the Welcome and Healing Mass at 6:00 PM, presided over by Rev. Fr. Anthony Ferrer, OFM, and concelebrated by Rev. Fr. Julius Boado, CMF and Rev. Fr. Ronnie Banaria, CMF. During the Mass, the faithful were invited to receive the anointing with Holy Oil, to venerate and kiss the relic, and to experience the special devotion of having the mantle of Our Lady of Guadalupe placed over them.
Following the Mass, the relic was transferred to Bulwagan Claret, where the faithful gathered for a prayerful Vigil and Veneration, which continued throughout the night and into the following day. During the veneration, the faithful were likewise blessed through anointing with Holy Oil, as they came before the sacred relic in prayer and devotion.
During the visit, envelopes were also made available for the faithful who wished to offer their personal petitions and intentions through the intercession of St. Francis. Those who wished to extend a donation were likewise welcome to do so. All petitions and donations gathered during the Lakbay ni Francisco will be brought to Assisi, Italy, in December, where they will be entrusted in prayer at the sacred places associated with St. Francis.
On 20 September, the faithful continued to come together in prayer and veneration before the sacred relic. Bro. Dave dela Cruz, Coordinator of Lakbay ni Francisco–Philippines and a Third Order Dominican, shared a short catechesis on St. Francis of Assisi during the Masses celebrated that day, offering the faithful a deeper appreciation of the saint's life, spirituality, and enduring witness.
The visit concluded with the Farewell Mass celebrated by Rev. Fr. Julius Boado, CMF, after which the Jubilee Relic continued its journey to the next community.
We give thanks to God for this extraordinary opportunity to come closer to Christ through the witness and intercession of St. Francis of Assisi, whose life continues to inspire us to embrace simplicity, charity, care for creation, and peace.
During this Jubilee Year, the faithful who devoutly participate in the Jubilee celebrations and fulfill the usual conditions may also receive the Plenary Indulgence associated with this special spiritual occasion.
Our heartfelt thanks to all the ministries and organizations who supported and participated in the Masses and Vigil, led by the Shrine Commission headed by Malou Aquilizan. Your generous service and presence helped make this grace-filled occasion a memorable spiritual experience for our parish community.
May the visit of the relic leave in our hearts a renewed love for Jesus and a deeper desire to live as instruments of peace, mercy, and charity.
🙏 Pax et Bonum!
