PPC General Assembly: Parish Leaders Gather in Faith, Stewardship, and Mission
On 26 July 2026, the Parish Pastoral Council (PPC) of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish gathered for its General Assembly, bringing together parish leaders for a day of prayer, discernment, planning, and fraternity in service of the Church’s mission. The assembly was facilitated by PPC Assistant Coordinator Ms. Joy Lumba-Abela.
The gathering commenced with the Enthronement of the Sacred Scriptures, a fitting reminder that the Word of God remains the foundation of all pastoral planning and ministry. This was followed by an inspirational message from the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Dennis G. Tamayo, CMF, who invited the council members to deepen their understanding of Christian stewardship as a way of life. He emphasized that every disciple is called to offer the Four Ts of Stewardship - Treasure, Time, Talent, and Territory, highlighting care for creation as an integral expression of responsible Christian discipleship.
Among the major agenda items was the continuing preparation for the Solemn Dedication of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish Church on 7 September 2026. The assembly was oriented on the flow of the rite and the importance of our Church dedication. The council reviewed the parish’s priority projects in preparation for this historic celebration, including the fabrication of the Posts’ Cross with Candle and Floral Holders, the upgrading of the altar and lectern, the cleaning and restoration of the church’s marble floor, and the reconstruction of the confessional. These initiatives aim to enhance the dignity of the parish church as a sacred space for worship and the celebration of the sacraments.
The council also discussed other significant parish initiatives, including Sabado ko Kay Maria, and updates on the parish’s Stewardship Program, encouraging the continued generosity and active participation of the faithful in sustaining the parish’s mission like its newly proposed fund raising campaign to help defray in the expenses for the cleaning and restoration of the church’s marble floor coined: ₱500 Para sa Isang Metro ng Pananampalataya to sponsor a square meter of our church floor.
The council also received updates on the 2026 IHMP Spiritual Pilgrimage, themed “Sama-samang Paglalakbay sa Puso ni Maria, Tungo kay Kristo,” to be held on 15 August 2026. Pilgrims will visit six Marian and historical churches in Bulacan: the National Shrine of Nuestra Señora de la Inmaculada Concepcion in Obando, the National Shrine of the Divine Mercy in Marilao, the Minor Basilica and Parish of La Purísima Concepcion in Santa Maria, the Diocesan Shrine and Parish of St. John the Baptist in Calumpit, the Minor Basilica and Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Malolos, and the historic Barasoain Church. The pilgrimage fee is ₱800 per participant, inclusive of transportation, meals, a pilgrimage kit, and a commemorative T-shirt. Registration is limited to 50 pilgrims, with confirmation open until 2 August 2026 at 5:00 PM.
In observance of the World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly, the assembly included a brief reflection honoring the invaluable witness of grandparents and senior members of the community, whose faith and perseverance continue to enrich the life of the parish. Plans for upcoming activities, including the PPC Team Building, were likewise presented to strengthen unity and collaboration among parish leaders.
The General Assembly concluded with a joyful celebration of the July birthday celebrants, highlighting the spirit of communion and fraternity that characterizes the Parish Pastoral Council.
As the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish continues its journey toward the Solemn Dedication of its church and its aspiration to become a diocesan shrine, gatherings such as the PPC General Assembly remain vital moments of prayer, discernment, and collaborative leadership. United in faith and inspired by the Heart of Mary, the council renews its commitment to lead the parish in communion, participation, and mission.
May the Immaculate Heart of Mary continue to guide and inspire our Parish Pastoral Council as they faithfully serve Christ and His Church.
