WHERE HEAVEN TOUCHES EARTH: Formation Talk on the Dedication of Our Church and Altar

As the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish (IHMP) prepares for the Solemn Dedication of its Church and Altar, parishioners gathered for a formation talk aimed at deepening their understanding of the meaning and significance of this historic celebration.

The formation session, “Where Heaven Touches Earth,” was hosted by Mia Inocencio, Coordinator of the Formation Ministry, and opened by parish priest Rev. Fr. Dennis G. Tamayo, CMF, who welcomed the participants and emphasized that preparing for the dedication is not only about preparing the church building, but also about preparing the hearts of the people who gather and worship in it.

The main formation talk was given by Rev. Fr. Ronald M. Roberto, Head of the Cubao Diocesan Ministry for Worship and Parish Priest of Immaculate Conception Parish–GSIS. He led the community into a deeper appreciation of the theology, symbols, and spiritual meaning of the dedication of a church and altar.

The formation highlighted three important points:

First, the church is more than a building.
Through its dedication, the church becomes a sacred space set apart for divine worship—a place where the Christian community gathers to encounter God, listen to His Word, celebrate the Sacraments, and grow together in faith.

Second, the altar is at the heart of the Church’s worship.
It is the central place of the Eucharistic celebration, where Christ’s sacrifice is made present and where the community gathers as one around the table of the Lord.

Third, the dedication calls the people themselves to renewal.
The restored church is not meant to be simply a beautiful or historic structure. It is a place where faith is celebrated, communion is strengthened, and lives are continually offered to God. Ultimately, the people of God are called to become a living temple, carrying God's presence into the world.

As IHMP continues its journey toward the Solemn Dedication of the Church and Altar on September 7, 2026, the formation serves as an important reminder: the celebration is not merely about dedicating a building. It is about renewing a people and deepening their relationship with God.

Where Heaven Touches Earth.
A church dedicated to God.
A people renewed in faith.
A community gathered around the altar.

Immaculate Heart of Mary, lead us to our salvation.
